Special engineering steels

Whether heat-resistant steels, case-hardening steels, quenched and tempered steels or nitriding steels - alloyed stainless steels from BGH are used wherever maximum fatigue strength, wear resistance and surface hardness are required.

They are characterised by a particularly high degree of purity, which has a positive effect on the operating properties. Maximum purity can be achieved by additional remelting as ESR, PESR and VAR remelting.

Materials and areas of application

BGH quenched and tempered steels are characterised by their high strength in combination with good toughness.

Our modern heat treatment facilities - classic or inductive - as well as the know-how of our employees guarantee compliance with narrow process windows and precise temperature control to achieve the required mechanical-technological properties.

BGH QT steels

BGH case-hardening steels are perfectly matched in their analysis to the requirements of modern transmission and drive parts. The required combination of core toughness and hard, wear-resistant surface is achieved by case-hardening or carburising the finished component.

The carbon diffuses into the surface of the component and causes its martensitic transformation during subsequent hardening.

BGH case-hardening steels

BGH nitriding steels with their high wear resistance are used in gearboxes, drive shafts and conveyor shafts, among other applications. Due to the use of strong nitride formers such as vanadium, molybdenum, aluminium or chromium, these steels are particularly suitable for surface hardening by nitriding.

The nitriding process takes place after finish machining and gives your components maximum wear resistance with high surface strength and a ductile core zone. Due to the lower temperatures during nitriding compared to carburising, thermal distortion is kept to a minimum.

BGH nitriding steels

Your application requires high strengths at application temperatures up to 600 °C? You do not want to compromise on the proof stress and want to avoid premature component failures?
Then BGH heat-resistant steels with their homogeneous microstructure and proven alloying concepts are the right choice.

Chromium, molybdenum and vanadium as the most important alloying elements in combination with a low content of trace elements guarantee reliability in applications in the field of energy generation or thermal power plant technology.
